We had a very busy winter filled with basketball for both kids, some skiing and a couple of trips up to the cabin. Brooklyn played AAU this year and so here games were on Saturday's so it limited our trips up to the cabin. We were able to get up there over Christmas break and ski twice. Craig got up to Brundage one other time and then Craig and I were able to ski at Big Sky when we were in West Yellowstone for the Vision Source meeting. My mom also took the kids up to Bogus once. So not a whole lot of skiing, but we always have fun when we go. We figure this is the new normal for us when it comes to skiing, since the kids will be so busy with sports.
The kids both tried new leagues for basketball this year. Brooklyn played AAU and had a blast. Her team won the 6th grade championship. It was so fun to watch these girls get better as the season went on and to actually play as a team. McKay played TV80. It was a quick 6 week league and their team also won the championship. McKay had to play up with 3rd and 4th graders and you could tell that he felt a little intimidated. We had never seen him play timid at anything in his life, it was really strange to watch since he is normally the most aggressive kid on the field/court. His skills definitely improved and he really was just as good as any of the other kids, but the biggest kids never passed the ball and so he didn't get the opportunity to try. Next year he will be the right age and I'm sure it will go better. Craig worked with both of them a lot over at the church gym and they both got a lot more confident in their skills.
Craig and I had the opportunity to go to West Yellowstone again at the start of March. We had a blast snowmobiling, neither of us got injured this year, thank goodness. Skiing was much better this time, with quite a bit more snow. The kids stayed with my Mom and had fun while we were gone. It was a busy winter, but full of a lot of family time and great memories were made.
