McKay is 10 Months Old

June 15, 2017
Size 3 diapers
Size 9 month clothes

This kid is on the move.  He is officially crawling and he is all over the place.  He is loving the freedom that comes with mobility.  I also love that he can get to the toys that he wants and entertain himself a little bit longer these days.  He loves to play in Brooklyn's room and will pretty much grab out every toy that he can reach, Brooklyn and I had to make sure we had all of the little toys put away.  He especially loves Brooklyn's doctor set and tea set.  He likes when he can open something up and take things out and then put them back in and then close it and do it all over again.  He pulls himself up on everything.  One day I caught him with his hand in the toilet.  He had crawled over while I was washing my hands and just pulled himself right up and started splashing around in the water.  Luckily I had just flushed, but we now try to remember to close the lid when we are done.  He has quickly developed a love for balls and loves to play pass.  He does a pretty good job throwing them to you as long as they aren't too big.  He still only has 2 teeth but he is working on number 3, hopefully it will come soon.  Has has still been throwing up, but luckily it isn't happening as often.  Still not exactly sure what is causing all of this but I am just glad that it is slowing down.  We changed up his reflux medicine so that could possibly be why it has slowed down.  Hopefully it will continue to lessen as time goes on.  We were starting to get a little worried because at his last doctors appointment he had actually lost a few ounces and hadn't gained any weight for about a month and a half.  I haven't weighed him since then but he does seem a little bit bigger now and must have been going through a growth spurt the last week or so because he was just eating like crazy.  He still loves his solid food.  He will pretty much eat just about anything we put in front of him.  We have figured out that he loves meat, especially pork.  he also really likes rice, especially Costa Vida rice.  He loves to feed himself whenever he can and he loves his little baby snacks like puffs and the little baby rice cakes.  The only thing that keeps him happy when I have the kids in the stroller and I'm out for a run is Brooklyn feeding him puffs.  That also is the case at the grocery store.  I wear him in the front pack and then Brooklyn sits in the seat in the cart and I just give her the thing of puffs and whenever he gets whiny (which is most of the time) she gives him a puff.  As you can tell we go through a lot of puffs. He still drinks 4 bottles a day and is sleeping about the same.  He got into a little funk with all of his throwing up and was waking up to eat at like 4:00 am instead of like 6:00 am.  I think we are hopefully slowly working our way back out of that.
He loves to be outside.  It is getting harder to take him to the park because he just wants to crawl around, which means he will just eat all of the grass and bark.  So we pretty much spend our time at the park in the swing while Brooklyn runs around.  He also loves to splash around in the pool, I have to hold him the whole time of course, but he loves it.  He is still very clingy, but luckily is fine with Craig again after a few week strike.  That was definitely a long few weeks.  I am glad he is back to loving on Daddy.  He is completely and utterly obsessed with his binky.  He likes to have 2 at a time and switch them back and forth. He is still so smiley.  He now does this super cute grin where he scrunches up his nose and squints his eyes and this little dimple up high on his right cheek comes out.  I have a hard time catching it on camera, but one of these days I'll get it.  He still smiles at anyone and everyone and I have about a dozen people tell me at church every week what a happy baby he is.  You really do just want to grab his little cheeks and just squeeze them.  He can be hard some days, definitely harder than Brooklyn ever was, but he is such a joy to our family.  His little smile just brightens up my day, everyday.

Goodbye Spring

Here are just a few of our random/leftover pictures from spring.  One of the things that Craig "has" to do while his parents are gone is to drive around his dad's cars, poor thing.  He loves it and Brooklyn loves it too when she gets to tag along.  It typically ends up being a Sunday afternoon outing when the weather is nice.  This Spring we tried to get outside as much as possible.  We headed to the park as often as we could to play and eat lunch.  McKay now loves the swing. Brooklyn also discovered that she loves to feed the ducks.

Brooklyn had a field trip with her class to Jump Time.  She had a lot of fun jumping on the trampolines, playing in the bounce houses, and jumping into the foam pit.

At the end of April we watched our 16 month old nephew Graham for 8 days.  Brooklyn had a lot of fun having someone else to play with.  We tried to stay as busy as we could.  Luckily Graham's nap time and McKay's afternoon nap would overlap and I would have Brooklyn do quite time then also, so I would normally get about 30 minutes to myself each day.
We only made it up to McCall once this Spring.  Time just got away from us and had too much going on.  Hopefully we will get there more often this summer.  When we went up in May we went on a lot of walks, headed to the park a few times, and of course ate at My Father's Place and The Pancake House.  Brooklyn loved throwing rocks into the lake.  McKay was a big fan of the milkshake at My Father's Place.

Brooklyn has a little friend from church, Annie, that she has been playing with a lot over the last few months.  She even went with Annie and her mom to Craig's office because Annie's brother had an eye exam.

One exciting thing that has been happening over spring is that we decided to build a house.  We bought a lot in Star and are working with Berkeley Builders.  We have had all of our design meetings and have signed off on all of the changes and now are just waiting for the city to get the permits.  Hopefully they will start digging in the next few weeks or so.  As of right now the house is supposed to be finished end of October/beginning of November.  We are super excited and we can't wait for it to get going.  We had a great spring and we can't wait for a fun filled summer.

Last Day of School

I can't believe that Brooklyn has finished her first year of preschool.  She loved school so much and was having a hard time understanding the concept of summer break.  She just didn't get why she couldn't swim and go to preschool.  She loved her class and her teacher Ms. Mandy.  She learned a lot throughout the year.  The thing that I have been most impressed with is her hand writing, it has improved so much.  She can write her first and last name and all of our names without me having to spell them for her.  She can write any word as long as I spell it out for her.  She loves to figure out what words rhyme and has really started showing interest in reading.  We will definitely start working on sight words this summer.  She is such a smart girl and I am so proud of everything she did this year at school.  I hope she keeps this love for learning as long as possible.  They had a cute little program the last day that the parents could go to.  They sang us songs and showed us things that they had been working on throughout the year.  Brooklyn can't wait to go back again next year.
