McKay: 1 Month

McKay Matthew Moss
September 15, 2016

I can't believe that a month has already gone by, more like flown by.  He didn't have a doctors appointment so I don't know his weight or height, but he is definitely growing.  He is pooping and peeing like a champ so he is for sure getting enough food.  He is still wearing newborn diapers and newborn clothes, but they are getting tighter on him.  He is gradually staying awake more, he does pretty good now with the eat/wake/sleep cycles.  During the day he goes about 2 hours and 45 minutes in between feedings and at night he will eat at about 9:30 pm and we will lay him down and he will go 4 to 4 1/2 hours and then go about 3 1/2 until his next feeding and then his morning feeding is around 8:30 am.  So most nights I am getting around 6 hours of sleep, which I feel like for the mother of a newborn is pretty dang good.

He eats pretty well most of the time.  We had some issues with some gas while I was on some antibiotics and he would always come off when he needed to toot, luckily that has gotten a little better, but he does still come on and off more than I would like.  He also spits up a lot more then Brooklyn ever did.  Not enough for me to think it is acid reflux (especially since it doesn't seem to bother him at all), but still enough that we go through a ton of burp clothes and onesies.  Sometimes it seems like he pukes up everything he just ate, but most of the time it is just a constant dribble of spit up. We have tried cripe water, but that doesn't really seem to make a difference and I can't see any other pattern with what I'm eating and his spitting up.

Other than the spit up he is a great baby.  He naps well, eats much faster then Brooklyn ever did, takes bottles like a champ, take a binky, and is happy most of the time.  He hated his bathes at first, but now really likes them.  He loves when we wash and brush his hair, which I have fun styling differently.  Brooklyn loves her little brother and she loves to do Big Sister things like "babysit" him when I shower.  She also loves that McKay gave her an Elsa dress when he got home from the hospital.  She loves to hold him and sing to him and just love on him in general.

Preschool

First Day of Preschool
9/1/2016

Brooklyn has started preschool.  I can't believe she is big enough for that.  To say she has been excited would be a major understatement.  She has been asking about it the entire summer.  When we went for her orientation she asked is she could go by herself, she didn't want me there with her.  Where did my little baby go?  She goes to Harmony Preschool and Ms. Mandy is her teacher.  There are 8 kids in her class and so far she absolutely loves it.  She hates when it is over and she is constantly asking when she gets to go again.  She goes Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:35-11:50 am.  Her and I both wish it were just a little bit longer, but we will take what we can get.  She was so excited to use her Minnie Mouse backpack and has to show everyone she meets.  I can't believe how grown up she is.

Summer Fun

We had a lot of fun this summer.  We spent a lot of time with family and a lot of time outside.  Brooklyn and I swam almost everyday, went to the park at least a few times a week, had a lot of picnics, and went up to McCall as often as we could.  We really enjoyed the warm weather, but we are excited for fall to be here.  Here are a few random pictures from over the summer:

Grandpa and Brooklyn at the Move Over MSA garage sale

enjoying the first snow cone of the season

cousins at the farmers market

"helping" Nana make brownies

enjoying the fruits of her labors

the best raspberry picking partner

she wanted to wear her hat like the boys do

Her "new" Minnie Mouse umbrella that is at least 20 years old

we asked her to pick up her dress so it wouldn't drag on the ground

Newborn and Family Pictures

When McKay was a week old we had his newborn pictures taken by a friend of mine, Stacy Smart, of Stacy Lynn Photography.  She did such a fantastic job.  She really captured our family's personality and we are in love with the final product.  Sorry for the picture overload but there were just so many that we loved.  I just can't get enough of my sweet family.
