Well our happy boy had a much better month than last month.  He was healthy all month long, which was super nice.  He has been sleeping much better at night again.  At the start of the month he decided it was finally time to start rolling over.  He doesn't do it very often, but he can if he wants to.  Shortly after rolling over he started to sit up.  It was pretty crazy, it went from one day sitting up for about 3-5 seconds on his own to the next day sitting up for almost 10 minutes on his own.  I couldn't believe how quickly he got the hang of it.  He still falls over every once in a while, but for the most part can balance really well.  He loves eating solids.  This month we have introduced pears, apples, peaches, peas, squash and puffs.  He will always choose solids over a bottle.  I have to fight him to drink his bottles.  Luckily this week he also started drinking out of sippy cups, so at least we can keep him from getting dehydrated.  He doesn't always get water out but when he does he always has a surprised look on his face.

His schedule is still pretty similar.  Still taking 3 naps a day.  Most nights he will go from 8:00pm until 6:00, eat his bottle, and then go back to sleep until about 7:30 am.  We have dropped one bottle in the afternoon and he eats solids instead.  His schedule typically looks like this:
6:00 am- bottle
8:15 am - small bottle
9:00 am- rice cereal with fruit
10:00-11:00 nap
11:00- small bottle
1:15 pm- bottle
1:30-3:00ish nap;
4:00 pm- solids (usually veggies)
5:15-5:45 nap
6:00 pm- bottle
8:00 pm- bottle
Hopefully soon he will stretch that first feeding until 7:00 or so and I just won't lay him back down and we can drop another bottle and hopefully he will start eating a little more with each bottle.  He loves to sit in his high chair like a big boy when we are eating dinner as a family.

He has gotten really squeally recently.  It is super loud, but I figure as long as it is a happy sound then we are good to go.  I get a lot of funny looks as we are walking through the grocery store with him in the front back and just squealing at the top of his lungs.  Brooklyn thinks it is hilarious and likes to join in, which makes it extra loud and obnoxious.   He also has started to really love the jump-a-roo.  He will just jump like crazy in that thing.  It sure makes getting dinner ready a lot easier.  He is still super clingy, but he did do well last week when my mom watched him.  So here's fingers crossed that he keeps getting a little better.  He is still so smiley.  He always has the biggest smile for you when you get him out of his crib.  He also always has the biggest smile for Craig no matter when. He will just sit and smile at Craig until Craig realizes and smiles back.  I'm sure glad that he still at least goes to Craig and is happy with him.  I am just glad that my little man is happy and healthy and that he is ours forever.

Birthday Girl!

She is 4!  I can't believe it.  We had a lot of fun celebrating Brooklyn's birthday this year.  We were in McCall the weekend before her birthday so we decided to do some family celebrating.  On Saturday we took her ice skating for the first time.  She was so excited and not hesitant at all.  The first couple of times around I pretty much just pulled her, but after that she insisted on doing it all by herself.  It took us about 30 minutes to get all the way around the rink, but she had a blast and only fell 2 times. Craig hung out with McKay in the bleachers, Craig is not a fan of ice skating so he was more than happy to volunteer to hang with McKay. That night we let her choose where she wanted to go for dinner, she choose My Father's Place. It was a fantastic choice in my opinion and she even choose the banana/hot fudge milkshake for us to all share.

Wednesday the 22nd was her actual birthday.  Her only request was that she wanted an "Elsa" cake, which lucky for me just meant a cake with light blue frosting.  On Tuesday I made a cake and a bunch of cupcakes, then on Wednesday Brooklyn helped me make the frosting and made sure it was just the right color.  For lunch that day I took her to McDonald's so she could play, my parents met us there to eat as well.  That night for dinner we had her favorite dinner, frozen ravioli from Walmart and Texas toast.  Luckily she is very easy to please.  After dinner she opened up presents and then all the family came over for cake and ice cream.  She was so excited to have all of her cousins over.  She is definitely very loved and is very lucky to have so many people care for her.

Brooklyn is such a sweet girl.  We are so blessed to have her in our family.  She is kind, obedient, loving, polite, and so much more.  One of my favorite things about her is she is so good about complimenting others.  If she likes your shoes, or hair, or clothes, she will let you know.  She is also so good about sharing with others.  She doesn't get upset if one of her little cousins takes the toy she is playing with or she will very willing give up her toy to someone else if she knows they really want it.  She is so polite to everyone.  She makes sure to always say please and thank you.  I love listening to her prayers.  She truly just has a conversation with our Heavenly Father and she really thinks about what is going on around her when she prays.  She loves her brother so much and is such a wonderful big sister.  She is always willing to run and grab something for me or entertain him while I am trying to get things done and she never complains about it.  She loves to watch TV like her mama.  We got rid of cable last October and never got an antenna, so all that we have is Netflix.  We found Magic School Bus on there and she is now obsessed.  There are 4 seasons and she is now on her 4th time through.  She also loves Sid the Science Kid, Super Why, and Little Einsteins.  I figure if she is going to watch TV, these are at least educational.

She is so dang smart.  She loves to go to preschool, but she also loves to keep learning at home.  She loves to write her letters, she can write and spell all of our names.  She loves to figure out rhyming words.  She can count to 50.  She has a great memory.  She still loves puzzle and loves to have us read to her.  She is also a little OCD.  Craig once told her that we like to turn off lights when we aren't in the room so that the lights don't die.  Well now this child will not let a light stay on unless we are right there in the room.  I'm sure it is great for the utilities bill but sometimes it is a little obnoxious because she will turn a light off before we are even out of the room or we will leave the light on because we are going back into the room in just a minute, but she will have already gone and turned the light off.  We now have at least have her asking if we are done in the room before she turns it off.  At her 4 year check up with the doctor she finally broke the 30 lb barrier.  She weighs in at a whopping 31 lbs (17%) and she is 40 inches tall (60%).  She has no bum so we cannot get any pants to stay on her because we have to buy them long enough (definitely a moss issue not a williams).  She took her shots like a champ, didn't even flinch or cry. We love her so so much and are so excited that she is 4 years old.

Well this last month has been an interesting one.  Both kids got a bad cold for about 4 days, McKay then cut 2 teeth. Then after being snotty for over week he got an ear infection.  He was then on antibiotics for 10 days but still wasn't totally back to himself.  This whole time he hasn't been sleeping as well and just wasn't super happy.  He had a couple really awful nights in a row so I took him back to the doctor and he ended up having a double ear infection.  This time they gave him a different antibiotic and it worked much better.  After a few days he was back to his cheerful self.  It was definitely a long couple of weeks for all of us.  Craig and I were barely getting any sleep and I ended up getting pretty sick for a few days.  I'm just glad it is all over and he is smiling and giggling again.  Besides getting 2 teeth this month he also started solid foods.  So far he has tried rice cereal, sweet potatoes, bananas, and carrots.  He does pretty well with all of those.  He is very interested in food and you can tell he always wants to eat our food.  Now that we are passed all of the ear infections he is finally sleeping better again.  We will feed him last bottle around 8:00 pm and then lay him down.  I will then feed him a bottle sometime between 4:45 and 6:30 am and then he will go back to sleep until about 8:00 am.  He is now down to 3 naps. He lays down for a cat nap around 10:00 that will last 30-45 minutes, he will then lay down again around 1:00 for his "big" nap which will last an hour and a half to two hours typically, his last nap is then around 5:00 and it is usually only about 30 minutes.  Not the best napper in the world, but he does ok.  Luckily Brooklyn will do about 45 minutes of quite time while McKay does his big nap so it gives me a little bit of time to myself.  Most moms would use this time to get things done, but most of the time I sit on the couch and watch a show.

For being such a happy and smiley baby he hates going to the child watch at the gym.  I usually can only get about 40 minutes of a workout in and I usually have to go in to calm him down once during that time.  I don't know what his deal his, but it is really obnoxious and I am really tired of it.  My workout is my "me time" and it just isn't the same if I am worrying about them coming to get me or if I workout at home and try to squeeze it in during a nap and trying to entertain Brooklyn at the same time.  Hopefully it will get better soon because I would really like to get back into teaching classes, but I'm not going to be able to do that until he will cooperate with the ladies at the gym.

He is so close to rolling over.  He could totally do it, but he really just doesn't care.  He is way more interested in sitting up and I think he will get that soon as well.  He has some nasty eczema on his cheeks, chin, elbows and legs.  So far what we have tried has not worked.  Hopefully the doctor can get us something that will help, it looks so uncomfortable and painful.  One thing that is really quite funny is that he thinks it is hilarious to get undressed.  Anytime I undress him for his bath or to change his diaper and just to change his clothes, he just giggles and giggles.  He has started sitting in his Bumbo and playing in his saucer a lot the last few weeks.  He does pretty good and will be content for 10 -15 minutes so that I can get a few things done.  Brooklyn is still a big helper and a great big sister.  While I was not a big fan of his awful sleeping, I sure do love this sweet little boy.  His smile really does just light up my day, you just can't help but smile back.
