Brooklyn and I went to Boise this past week to celebrate my little sister Melissa's wedding. Craig was unable to come with us because of school, so Brooklyn and I made the trip alone. I was kind of nervous to fly with her by myself, but Craig continued to assure me that she is a good baby and it would be just fine, but little did he know the adventure we would have. We flew out on Tuesday July 23 and had an 8:30 am flight. We had to wake the poor little thing up at 6:00am so that Craig could drop us off at the airport before class started that day. Once we got to the terminal she fell asleep in my arms for a little while. It worked out that her next feeding would be right at take off time. So we boarded the plane but we couldn't take off because of a thunderstorm. We hung out on the airplane for an hour and a half before we finally were able to take off. So, of course Brooklyn needed to eat before then and it wasn't time to eat again when we finally did take off, but the pressure change didn't seem to bother her. We flew into Minneapolis where we were supposed to have only an hour layover, but since we took off from Memphis an hour and a half late we of course missed our connecting flight. After fighting with the airline a little bit to get us onto the next flight directly into Boise, we had about 6 hours to kill before our next flight. Luckily I did pack a few extra diapers and a couple of extra bottles worth of formula. I found us an empty terminal where we could hang out. It is very hard to entertain a 5 month old for 6 hours with the 2 toys that you could fit into the diaper bag. She did fall asleep a few times for me, thank goodness.
Once finally on the flight to Boise she was a complete angel. When we got off the flight I had multiple people come up to me and say they didn't even know there was a baby on the flight. We finally made it into Boise 6 hours late. Both of us exhausted, but I couldn't have asked for a better baby. She was a little trooper. Needless to say we both went straight to bed.
Luckily the flight back was uneventful. We made our flights and got back to Memphis even a few minutes early. She did cry for about 10 minutes on each flight, but I blame her stuffy nose and pressure changes on that. All in all I would call her first airplane trip a success.
So glad to hear your flight back went smoothly and uneventfully! Glad you got to go, everything looks great!
