We did our first bigger road trip as a family of 4. We have driven to McCall countless times but McKay has yet to be in the car for over 2 hours, he is not so great in the car. We headed down to Utah for Craig's grandparents 70th wedding anniversary celebration (isn't that AMAZING!?!?!). Since we were going down we decided to make a little bit of a vacation out of it. All of Craig's brothers and their families and his parents all went down on Thursday and then we spent all of Friday at Lagoon. I was a little unsure of how McKay would do without a nap, but he powered through and did fantastic. It was a pretty warm day, but luckily not ridiculously hot like it could have been. McKay had a little meltdown as we were waiting for the rides to open, but once we finally got him on his first ride he was a happy camper. Brooklyn was in heaven, I wasn't sure how many rides she would be able to do, but there are quite a few and she never got bored. I have always loved amusement parks and was a little sad that I probably wouldn't be able to ride on very many big rides, but let me tell you, seeing the joy on my kids faces was way better than going on the big roller coasters. Craig and I did take turns going on a few of the bigger ones, but that was plenty. After lunch McKay started to get a little tired so I walked around with him in the stroller while Craig and Brooklyn did some rides and he eventually fell asleep and took a 20 minute power nap that got him through the rest of the day. We lasted at the park for just over 6 hours, which was longer than we thought. It was so much fun and we will definitely be going back soon. It was a lot of fun to be there with cousins, the kids all had a blast.
On Saturday morning we all headed over to Thanksgiving Point and the Museum of Natural Curiosity. OMG this place was awesome. It was like kid heaven. They were just running around checking everything out. It was great for kids big and little and I would highly recommend it to everyone. I think our kids favorite parts were the playground with the zip line and the veterinary clinic in the little town. We spent a few good hours there before heading back to the hotel for nap time.
That evening was the anniversary celebration. Almost the entire Moss family came to Bountiful to celebrate Lee and Loraine. Craig's grandparents are amazing and such an example to everyone of happiness and love. We took some family pictures and ate a yummy dinner and then Stan and his siblings gave wonderful toasts. It was so much fun to celebrate this amazing accomplishment with them. We had such a great time in Utah and Brooklyn is always asking when we can go back again. McKay did pretty well on the drive, I was exhausted by the end with having to entertain him, but it was worth it. Oh and the $50 on new toys certainly helped too. I would count this road trip as a success and hope the next one goes just as well.
