Double Digits

I can't believe we have been parents for an entire decade.  Brooklyn is 10 years old!!  Our first celebration of the birthday girl was a dinner at my mom's.  She did a dinner for the February birthday's, me, Brooklyn and Llyr.  The next set of celebrations came on her actual birthday, February 22nd.  She wanted cinnamon rolls for breakfast, which I was happy to make.  She was then off to school for the day.  Once she got home from school she quickly had to get ready for soccer practice.  After practice we headed over to Craig's parents house for Brooklyn's requested birthday dinner, Nana's goulash.  After dinner she opened gifts and then went in for the second round of cinnamon rolls.  She got spoiled with a bean bag, a couple of football jersey's, markers, fun socks, turtle earrings and some games.

We continued the celebrations on Saturday with a birthday party.  We had the girls meet up at Big Al's to go bowling.  We brought lots of candy for the girls to snack on and after we were done bowling my mom helped me shuttle the kids back to our house for cake and ice cream and gifts.  Brooklyn had requested Texas Sheet cake and strawberry ice cream.  She got some fun gifts from her friends.  Man people spend way too much money on gifts, at least way more than I do.  The girls then played until it was time for their parents to come pick them up.  Brooklyn was a good sport and let McKay tag along and McKay was happy to stay in the shadows, but still had a great time.  I think it was a very successful day and Brooklyn was a very happy girl and was very deserving of all the attention.

We are so grateful that Brooklyn is in our family and so grateful for the young lady she is becoming.  She is kind, funny, smart, happy, generous, and goofy.  We love her too pieces.  She loves to read, play sports of all kinds, read, watch movies, read, be with friends and cousins, and read some more.  She really does desire to be good and kind.  She is so easy to be around and can bring out the giggles in everyone.  She is so witty and her comebacks keep getting quicker.  We love her dearly and so glad she is happy and healthy and a part of our family.  I can't wait to see what this next year has in store for her!
