The 4th was on a Monday so we headed up to McCall for the weekend and came home Sunday evening so that we could celebrate at home. We love the traditions that we have started and so we wanted to be back in Star. Craig was up early to play golf with buddies. The kids and I rode our bikes over to the Rice's for a yummy breakfast and then we headed to the parade. We had set up chairs the night before to safe our spots and good thing we did because the parade route was packed. Tiffany and her family met us out there as well and the guys came over after they finished their round of golf. Luckily this year was not near as hot as last year and we didn't feel like we were melting the whole time. The kids got loaded with candy and had a blast.
After the parade we headed up to Craig's parents house to cool off in the pool for a while and to bbq with family. That evening we then headed to the Star fireworks. We grabbed a spot of grass in a neighborhood close to the park and watched them from there. McKay somehow managed to fall asleep in the middle of the fireworks. His sleeping skills are really quite amazing. We love our little hometown 4th of July celebrations. Star does such a great job. We are so grateful for the freedom that we enjoy because of the sacrifices of others. We are truly blessed to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave!
