I cannot believe that our Mr. Magoo is 3 years old already. He is such a character and quite the stinker sometimes, but he sure brings such joy to our lives. One of the biggest things (at least to me) that has happened in the last year is that he is potty trained. I was dreading this process and kind of just kept putting it off, but finally in June I decided it was time to just go for it. We bought undies and potties and treats galore and the kid was potty trained in less than 3 days. It was awesome!!!! I love not changing diapers anymore, it is truly life changing. This guy is such a boy. He loves everything trucks, balls, construction equipment and dirt. He asks to play "trucks" about 12 times a day. He is a good eater and a good sleeper (for the most part). He sleeps until about 7:00 am, which is a big upgrade, and still takes close to a two hour nap most days (knock on wood). He loves any type of fruit and anything carbs (noodles, rice, etc.) He is a happy kid, until he's not. Most of the time he is smiles and giggles, but he loves to throw in a tantrum or two to keeps things interesting. He loves to play outside and to be with cousins. He is a pro at his balance bike and scooter and is trying really hard to figure out the whole pump your legs thing on the swing. Most of the time he is a little dare devil, jumping off everything, ( i will for sure have to get him into some ninja classes), except for when it comes to swimming. He has become quite the wimp in the pool this summer. His "swimming" consists of sitting on the stairs. I desperately want to just throw him in with his floaties on, but I don't know if he would ever forgive me. He loves playing with Brooklyn and really just about anyone that is willing to play for a few minutes. He's not a huge fan of just playing by himself.
We celebrated his birthday over a few days. It started the sunday before with a birthday dinner at my parents house. He was so excited to open his presents from my parents. After he ripped the paper off the two gifts he looks at Craig and asks, "Where's the monster truck?" The only thing he had asked for was a monster truck and he didn't quite understand that he would be getting more presents later in the week. He was a little disappointed, but loved the tee ball set and lego set that he got. On Monday we got together at Craig's parents house to do cake and ice cream with cousins on that side. Thursday (his actual birthday), we met my sisters and mom at Carl's Jr. for lunch and cupcakes. That evening he opened the presents from us and Brooklyn, where he did receive his beloved monster truck. Friday after spending the day at Roaring Springs Water park because of Brooklyn's reading, we met Craig's parents for dinner and then went to their house to open the last of his gifts. We really do a great job of dragging out birthdays. He has so much fun telling everyone that he is 3.
He is such a sweet boy and we love him dearly. He might respond when we call him Stinkerbum, but he really is a kind and loving boy. He is a tease to his sister, but misses her dearly when she is gone. He might smack your bum as he walks past, but then give you the best hug 2 minutes later. He might throw a huge fit in the grocery store, but will tell you he loves you right when you need to hear it. He really does round out our family perfectly and brings us so much happiness. Here's to another great year with McKay!!
