We had such a fun summer. We packed it full of activities, especially ones that we could do outside. I will do my best to keep everything in the right order, but here are a few of the random things from our summer. It started out with cheer/dance camp for Brooklyn at Rocky Mountain High School. She was so excited, even though I was kind of nervous to just drop her off. She went for 3 afternoons and then had the performance Saturday morning. They had to learn a lot of cheers and dances in such a short amount of time. The cheers kind of intimidated her because they were so fast, so she just kind of stood there. She did better with the dances and did her best to follow the big girls. She had a lot of fun and we will do it again next year.
A few weeks into summer we decided to hike Jump Creek. It was about an hour drive from Boise and the hike was pretty short, but it was fun and we are glad that we did it. Brooklyn was happy that she was able to hike the whole thing by herself (it is only about 1/4 mile each way). There was a fun water fall at the end. As we are almost to the parking lot and about to leave, Brooklyn takes off run and eats it and messed up her knee and elbow pretty good. It was not a fun ride home, I think she cried almost the entire way.
Craig and I had the opportunity to go to Phantom of the Opera with some of Craig's brothers and their wives. It was so good. I had never seen it before. They really did a spectacular job. I am so glad that we went to see it.
We spent a lot of time outside either in the pool or at a park with a splash pad. Brooklyns swimming gradually got better as the summer went on and then all of the sudden in the middle of August she decided that she no longer wanted to use floaties and that she was going to just swim all over the pool all by herself. She can jump off the diving board and swim the whole length of the pool. It made the swim instructor inside of me so so happy. I am so proud of her. I was so proud in fact that we went and got ice cream to celebrate.
We were able to make it up to McCall a few times and did some hiking. We also spent a lot of time with cousins and family. I think if you were to ask Brooklyn she would say we had a pretty great summer.
There has also been more progress on the house. They did the stone work on the front and started the exterior paint. They did a lot of the finish carpentry work inside like the shelving and closets, the banister, the mud room bench, hung the interior doors. I cannot tell you how excited I am for my closet and really just how much storage there is in general. It was pretty awesome to walk in a see things really moving along. As long as things continue to go according to plan then we should have the keys to our new house in just under two months. I can't wait!!
