11 Months Old

1/22/2014
18 1/2 lbs
size 3 diapers
size 9 month clothing

This last month has been fun and a little frustrating at the same time.  She had been sleeping amazing and I knew it would have to come to an end at some point but it came very abruptly.  She is going to bed around 8 but is now waking up at 7:15 or so each morning.  Her nap time has also been on the weak side, she is only napping for about 90 mins sometimes less and so by 6 at night she is crabby and ready for bed, but she refuses to take a morning nap. So there are afternoons and evenings that seems really long.  Other than her sleeping issues she has been great.

She finally got one of her top teeth in, so the count is up to 3. She still eats 3 bottles a day and 3 solid feedings each day.  She loves applesauce and oatmeal with yogurt mixed in. She has finally mastered waving, she only really likes to wave hello and mainly only to me and Craig, but I'll still count it.  She claps anytime we say "good job" or "good girl".  We finally had to purchase a gate for the stairs because we would turn our back for a few seconds and she would be half way up.  She has started to find her balance a little better.  She will only stand for 3 or 4 seconds before she sits down or grabs onto something, but she does it on her own now without me having to force her to.  She still loves to walk along everything and walk holding onto our hands, she is getting pretty fast at it too.  She now has zero hesitations to crawl all over the house, if we turn our back for a second too long she will just disappear.  She loves to play with her new toys that she got for Christmas.  She is obsessed with her burp clothe, she treats it like a binky.  She sleeps with it and loves to suck on it if she is upset or tired.  In the morning or after a nap when I go to get her she will hand it to me and it is soaking wet, but it allows her to put herself back to sleep at night, so it works for me.  She now looks forward to go to the gym each morning and go to the child watch.  She will reach for the ladies their and loves to play with the other kids and the different toys that they have their.  I know it sounds kind of selfish of me but somedays I stay at the gym for quite a while because I know she is happy and it is less time that I have to entertain her at home.  She continues to be a happy baby and it is so fun to see her continue to grow and develop.  I can't believe she is almost 1.

She helps me with the laundry by pulling everything out of the basket and then climbing in

we had some nice weather a few weeks ago so we were able to get out for a few walks

Christmas Vacation

On Christmas day we drove just over 2 hours to Little Rock to start our journey back to Boise.  We had kept Brooklyn awake until we started to drive, in hope that she would sleep the whole way, but that definitely back fired.  She slept for 30 minutes and when we got to the airport we realized that she had pooped.  She took a short nap on our flight to Vegas but refused to sleep on our flight to Boise.  By the time we got to Boise at 11:00 pm she was so passed tired that she was delirious.  We then stayed a few days at my parents house before heading up to McCall with Craig's dad.  In Boise we had a chance to have "Christmas Eve" dinner with Craig's family and Brooklyn was able to meet some of her Great grandparents who drove up from Utah.  We were also able to hit up Costa Vida for lunch and go to one of Tucker's basketball games.

We headed up to McCall Saturday afternoon and just hung out at the cabin since Craig's dad had just had a knee replacement.  Craig's mom stayed in Boise because she was on call, Mark and Paige were due any day with their second baby.  It was really nice just to relax up at the cabin.  We did dress Brooklyn up in some winter clothes and played in the snow with her for a little bit.  She really loved the fire.  Whenever it was going she would crawl up and use the hearth to stand up and just watch it.

Right before we headed up to McCall Brooklyn woke up with a fever.  Friday night at my parents house she was up for like 4 hours and we couldn't figure out what was going on.  She then woke up the next morning with a decent fever.  A few days later she then got a pretty good rash all over her torso and scalp.  Diane and Stan said it was Rosiola and a lot of babies get it around her age.  All she wanted to do was sleep and have me hold her for like 4 days straight, which was really obnoxious since there were so many people that wanted to hold her.

My family then came up to McCall Monday evening.  All of my siblings and their families were able to come, it was so fun to have everyone together and I'm so grateful that my family makes such a big effort to come in to town around mine and Craig's schedule.  Monday evening we just hung and ate dinner.  Tuesday all of the adults were supposed to go up snow skiing.  Since Brooklyn was sick I stayed with her, my parents, and the other younger kids.  Craig was meeting with some optometrists in Boise that day so he didn't get to ski either. We were able to meet all of the skiers at the lodge for lunch. We had fun hanging with the kidos.  That evening we then all ate dinner and watched football.  We were hoping to hang out longer and celebrate New Years Eve but even though Brooklyn had taken 2 really good naps that day she still wanted to go to bed at 8.

Wednesday morning we went to The Pancake House and then went over to the Madison's cabin (good family friends) where a lot of us played in the snow and others (husbands and babies) watched football.  We had fun sledding and snowmobiling.  That afternoon we then drove back to Boise with Tucker since he had bball practice the next morning.  Friday we did laundry and prepared for our flight back to Memphis.  Stan and Diane watched Brooklyn for us while we went to a early matinee of The Hobbit.  Brooklyn wasn't really sure what she thought of Diane's turtle, Big Mac.  She would crawl up to him and touch him and then cry for a second and then do it all over again. We were also able to check out Tiff and Llyr's new house.

Friday morning Craig and I were up at 4:15 and we woke Brooklyn up at 5:15 so that we could get to the airport and catch our 6:50 flight.  Brooklyn took a short nap on each leg of our flight and then slept the whole drive from Little Rock to Memphis.  We had a lot of fun in Idaho with our families but it is definitely nice to get back to our own home and beds.

Merry Christmas

Christmas was definitely a little different this year as a family of 3.  Of course Brooklyn had no idea what was going on, but it was fun for Craig and I to incorporate more "family" things for the holiday.  Since Brooklyn is into everything, the Christmas tree (a whopping 4 footer) was placed up on a side table and placed in the corner in between our couches.  Since we have lived in Memphis, Craig and I have gone out to a nice dinner at Ruth's Chris Steak House for Christmas Eve dinner, but we didn't think that would be the best place for Brooklyn, so we decided to go to Texas de Brazil instead.  It was so good.  The salad bar was huge and there were a ton of different meats to choose from.  Craig's favorite was the lamb chops and mine was the garlic sirloin. Brooklyn loved to watch the servers going around and liked the rice and beans and the cheese bread.  We definitely got our moneys worth.

That night we read the nativity and put the baby to bed and then Craig and I turned the fire place on, drank some sparkling cider and watched The Grinch. Christmas morning we woke up and opened a few presents and then finished packing for our trip to Idaho.

The next morning Brooklyn got to open up a few more presents at each grandparents house. She loved the wrapping paper and tissue paper.  The car was not a gift for her but Craig's dad said it was his Christmas gift to himself to share with all of the grandkids.  It matches his Shelby Cobra perfectly. Brooklyn's Aunt Missy made her the super adorable owl beanie.  She got some super cute outfits and fun toys from her grandparents.  She is definitely spoiled, but that's what grandparents are supposed to do, right?
