19 Months Old

Size 3 diapers
Size 12-18 Month clothing

I can't believe how much more my baby seems like a toddler than a baby now.  He does such a great job going into nursery at church and the child watch at the gym (even though he got kicked out once for hitting 4 different kids. Hopefully that will be a one time thing).  He has gotten better about pulling Brooklyn's hair, but will throw a fit if someone takes the toy he is playing with.  He loves to make animal sounds.  He finally has a horse down and his kitty cat is the most adorable sound.  He will finally "smile" for pictures, even though it is not much of an acutal smile, but at least he looks at the camera.  He gets so excited when Brooklyn wakes up in the morning and he will run up to her and give her a big hug.  He has to give Craig about 10 kisses every morning when he leaves for work.  He loves to watch Resuce Bots with Brooklyn and anytimes someone turns on the T.V. he says "bots bots".  He has really enjoyed watching March Madness, he makes a shooting motion with his hand when we say we are going to watch basketball.   His sleeping is about the same.  He has more good nights than bad, but he is definitely an early riser.  His naps are usually good, but will occasionally throw in a short one.  He is typically pretty grumpy when he wakes up in the afternoon for an hour or so.  He loves to be outside and that is typically when he is the happiest.  He is still obsessed with his blocks and he can build some pretty good towers.  He loves to read books before nap and bed, but still refuses to let us sing him any songs.  He still doesn't have a whole lot of words he says, but his sounds are pretty awesome and he can make a killer fishy face.  He is for the most part a very happy and sweet boy and Brooklyn has decided that we should keep him, even when he throws a ginormous fit in the grocery store (big enough that the checker wished me luck as we walked out).  We love him dearly and love watching his personality grow.
He loves to wear his hat but hates to wear sunglasses

Our Big Girl Turns 5!

February 22, 2018
35 lb 8 oz (20th percentile)
42 in. (38th percentile)

I can't believe our sweet little girl is 5 years old already.  She is such a fun, kind, thoughtful, smart, giving, silly girl and we love her so much!  She loves preschool and can't wait to start kindergarten at Galileo next fall.  She is so excited to be starting to learn to read. She loves ballet class and is excited to start soccer in a few weeks.  She is such a great big sister to McKay and is super patient with him (most of the time).  She is not a big fan of the drive to McCall but loves to be at the cabin and play in the snow.  She hates squishy (cooked ) tomatoes and squash.   She loves to play Eye Spy while we drive in the car and princess memory matching game.  She hates to hear her brother cry and will leave the room if he cries too loud.  She loves to run and jump and cartwheel all over the place and just be outside in general. She is such a happy girl and we love her so much.  She makes it seem like we are actually decent parents.

Brooklyn's Favorites (according to her):
color: pink, purple, silver
food: spaghetti, grapes, chicken, frosting, brownies, broccoli
song: Thunder by Imagine Dragons and Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam
sport: soccer

For her birthday we didn't do a big party (neither Craig or I are big party people), but did a lot of little celebrations.  On Wednesday she took cupcakes in to preschool.  Thursday, her actual birthday, She had a waffle with whipped cream and sprinkles for breakfast and then we took cupcakes to dance class and then met up with some family at McDonald s for lunch.  She insisted we go there for lunch because in her mind you only go there for your birthday.  That evening we ate dinner as a family and then opened her presents.  Of all the things she got, her favorite was the $8 stuffed unicorn.  She loved all the presents, but the unicorn is pretty much by her side whenever she is at home.  Friday evening we got together with family for texas sheet cake, chocolate chip cookies and ice cream.  Finally on Sunday my Mom had a birthday dinner.  She is so lucky to be surround by such wonderful supportive people.  She is such a wonderful girl and we are so lucky to have her as part of our family.

18 Months

Size 3 diapers

20 lbs 4 oz. (6%)
31.5 inches (18%)
18.25 inch head (21%)

Nursery here we come!  I don't think McKay is very excited for nursery at church but I sure am.  I am sure he will be a little sad when he gets dropped off, but he will do just fine.  We are almost finished teething for awhile.  He has all but 1 K-9 through and it is about to pop through any day now.  His sleeping has slowly gotten better.  Most nights he sleeps through the night.  Some nights he will cry a few times but will get back to sleep by himself and every once in a while I have to go in a rock him for a minute.  He is an early riser compared to Brooklyn, most mornings he is up sometime around 6:30 am.   He has been napping well (knock on wood), most days he will nap for around 2 hours, some days I even have to wake him up.  It has been really nice to get his sleeping back on track, hopefully we have a while before his next sleep regression.

He hasn't picked up a whole lot of new words this last month, but his sound effects are on point.  He has a sound effect for the garbage truck, airplane, car, fire truck, blowing on raspberries on his tummy, lots of grunting for throwing things and pushing things (think tennis player or weight lifter).  He does now say beep (the horn on the bus goes beep, beep, beep), MaaMa (Grandma), Hoo Hoo (owl), and whoa  He will finally let me read him stories, well only before nap and bed but at least that is something.  He has started to really mimic Brooklyn and loves to do what she is doing, like making funny faces. He has also really started showing his emotions, or maybe I should say anger.  If Brooklyn wont give him a toy he wants, then he will hit her or pull her hair.  If I try to give him a kiss and he doesn't want it then he will push my face away.  Brooklyn never hit or pulled hair so this is new territory for me.

He loves to crawl into things and sit in things.  The kids favorite entertainment right now is throwing their stuffed animals down the stairs.  Luckily so far it has just been soft things, but I'm sure one day soon I will hear the thud of something harder landing at the bottom of the stairs.  He is getting really good at building towers with his blocks and loves to drive his trucks around the living room.  For as much as he is glued to my hip, he wants to walk anytime we are in public places (the times I would much prefer he let me carry him).  He has started to become a little bit more of a picky eater and meals have become a little tougher.  He still loves to throw his food on the floor, which makes clean up time super fun.  We have had to start cheering for him to get him to eat sometimes.  He especially likes Craig and Brooklyn to clap for him when he takes a big bite.  One of his new things is pulling down his pants.  It started with pulling them down when he did a stinky, but now he just does it randomly like at church or Brooklyn's dance class.  Not only does he loves pulling them down but he insists on putting them on by himself, which he is actually pretty good at.  So if I am lazy (like normal) and don't put away a pair of his pants, then all of the sudden he will have multiple pairs of pants on and he is so proud of himself.  He really is a goofball.  He is pretty happy for the most part and a lot of fun to be around.  I sure do love my munchkin man!

Still obsessed with the garbage
This last month we were also able to go up to McCall.  We had a blast playing in the snow and eating yummy food.  Brooklyn and I also went ice skating.  She earned it because she got rid of her burp clothes finally.  She had still been sleeping with them and I thought it might be a struggle to get rid of them, but in true Brooklyn form it only took a few days and barely any tears.

Dance Recital

Our little princess had her first dance recital last Saturday.  She has really enjoyed her ballet class that she takes through Treasure Valley Ballet Academy every Thursday morning.  She had dress rehearsal Saturday morning and then the recital that evening.  My parents met us there to watch.  All of the dancers did such a great job and McKay had a lot of fun clapping after each dance.  Brooklyn was so adorable and did such a wonderful job.  She smiled, which I was afraid she was going to forget, and really remembered the dance that they had learned in class.  She was so excited when Daddy had flowers for her at the end and she loved the necklace that my parents got for her.  It was so fun to see her excitement and pure joy.  I know this will be the first of many dance recitals that we will spend our Saturday nights at, I just hope I can figure out this whole dance mom thing.

He's 17 months!

Well our Mr. Magoo may still be sleeping pretty awful, but we did have a big milestone this month.... I can now take him to the gym.  I had tried taking him to the gym a few times here and there but always with a bad outcome, but finally the week before Christmas he decided that it was a fun place to be (well as long as sister is there with him).  The first few times we went he would cry when I dropped him off but would calm down eventually, but now I will drop him off and he will wave goodbye to me and grab his sisters hand and take off for the toys.  Brooklyn really has been the one that has made it possible, she is so good to him when they are in there.  So we now go to the gym the days that she doesn't have school, T/TH/SAT.  It really has been amazing.  This month I also started taking the kids to the grocery store again.  He used to do fine when he fit in the front pack, but since he got too big for that it was just a disaster waiting to happen.  I was that mom walking through the store trying to carry a screaming child and push her cart all at the same time.  So I decided that I was tired of going after bed time and we went during the day and as long as I have enough fruit snacks for him then we are normally good to go.  We still have the occasional meltdown, but it is at least manageable.  Our night might still be bad, but our days have gotten a lot better.

All of his one year molars are through and 2 of his K9's are through and luckily his K9's haven't seemed to bother him a whole lot.  He is absolutely obsessed with garbage cans, garbage trucks, throwing garbage away, etc.  He says "wawa" anytime he is referring to something garbage related.  Anywhere we go to he scopes out the garbage's and will find any trash that he can throw away.  He learned another animal sound, quack, which is the sound he thinks all birds make, but at least birds don't roar anymore.  He has started to fold his arms for prayer and if we ever forget to say a prayer before a meal he will fold his arms and grunt until we remember to pray.  He loves to watch football with his Daddy and anytime the TV gets turned on he says, "boopball" hoping that we are turning a game on.  he will be sorely disappointed once football season is over soon.  His new trick this month is somersaults, he can actually do them by himself and most of the time they are pretty straight.  He has really started to love actually playing with his sister.  They interact so well together, well except for when he is pulling her hair.  Brooklyn does a pretty good job of being able to calm him down when I'm not there and he loves to give her really big hugs, way better hugs then he ever gives me.

I'm not going to lie, I am pretty excited for him to go into nursery at church in a month and I am even more excited that there is hope that he might go without me.  Once we get this kid to start sleeping better at night and I catch up on my sleep, I feel like I will be a whole new person, like a regular mom that runs errands, goes to the gym, and does regular things with her kids instead of doing them all early in the morning or late at night.  all I know is that we are certainly moving in the right direction.  He really is a happy kid for the most part and has the best giggle in the whole world and I love him to pieces.
After our first successful trip to the grocery store with no meltdowns

He loves to help set the table

Happy New Year!

We headed up to McCall for the New Years weekend.  The kids and I headed up on Thursday with my parents, they had rented a cabin for the family.  My sister Sunni came in town from Rexburg and then the rest of us came up from Boise.  We hung out at the cabin Thursday evening with everyone and the cousins all exchanged their Christmas gifts.  The kids and I then headed back to the Moss cabin for bed and then went back first thing in the morning.  A lot of the family headed up skiing, but the kids and I hung out at the cabin with the other babies and then headed to Brundage to meet everyone for lunch.  That afternoon the kids had a lot of fun playing in the snow and we ate some yummy chili for dinner and just enjoyed everyone's company.  Craig then came and picked us up and we all headed back to our cabin to sleep.  Saturday morning we then met up with my family to go sledding.  It hadn't snowed for a while so the snow was really packed and made for some really fast sledding.  The kids loved it no matter what.  My family then all headed back to Boise and Rexburg, but luckily Mark and Paige were in McCall as well and Brooklyn was loving all of the cousin time she was getting.

Saturday evening we headed up to the mountain for the fireworks.  We got up there a little too early and the kids got a little antsy while we were waiting for the festivities to get going.  Once it finally got dark they did a torch parade with skiers and then the kids participated in a little kids light parade.  After that was all done they did the fireworks.  We started off a little too close to the fireworks and the noise was bothering the kids.  We gradually made our way to the car and finished watching from there.  McKay did think that they were pretty cool.  It was pretty fun, but next time we will know to not go so early.

Sunday, New Year's Eve, we headed to church and then just hung low for most of the day, we went for a walk downtown and the kids played in the snow for a little  while.  The kids were so excited for the count down and for drinking the sparkling cider, so we decided to have our midnight be at 7:00pm.  The kids loved counting down and doing "cheers".  One of these days we will actually make to midnight, but this year was definitely not it.  Monday we went to Pancake House before we cleaned up and headed back home.  It was a fun weekend, especially fun to be surrounded by so much family the whole time.  I sure am grateful that my kids get to spend so much time with their cousins.  2017 was a great year and we are looking forward to another wonderful year in 2018.  I love watching the kids grow and learn and I can't wait to see what 2018 brings.
